Word of mouth
A great place to start when looking for an honest, reliable plumber that does great work is to ask around! Talk to your family or friends, or even post the question on social media. If someone has used a plumber in the past, especially if they have used that plumber multiple times, and the plumbing company has done a great job, it’s most likely that they will do a great job again in the future. You know that you can trust your family and friends, so this is a great starting point.
Once you have a few plumbers in mind, do a Google search on them. You can even search social media, such as Facebook, to see what people are saying about the plumbing company. These days almost everyone is on social media, including plumbing companies, so this is a great place to research as well. Keep in mind that it’s very uncommon for a company to have a complete 5 star rating on all platforms as you can’t always make everyone happy and as the saying goes, there are often two sides to every story, but overall the majority of the plumbing company’s reviews should be positive and they should have an excellent rating! We recommend at least a 4 star rating, but as close to 5 star as possible is best!
In addition to online reviews, you can always call the plumbing company to ask for references from customers they have done plumbing work for before. Once you receive these references, call them and ask how satisfied they were with the plumber’s work.
Licensed and Insured
This is something that is extremely important! Make sure that the plumbing company is licensed and insured. If the company is not licensed or does not carry insurance for worst case scenarios, we would not recommend using them.
How long have they been in business?
This is a great question to ask. We recommend a plumbing company that has been in business at least 3-5 years. It’s also a great idea to ask the individual plumber how many years of experience he or she has in the plumbing field.
Always ask about the warranty that a plumbing company provides on their work and have them write the warranty on the work order. Remember to ask about the warranty that comes with the product (such as the warranty on the water heater or sump pump), but also what warranty the plumber provides on parts and labor. A great plumber always stands behind their work!
